Christmas at Home

Since moving to California,
I've definitely been homesick.
Also, since moving away,
it became really important to me,
to go home for Christmas.

Mom had the lights on,

and Mike saved the day by using a teeeeny tiny corkscrew to open the wine.

 The tree was all ready,

 with a couple special ornaments.

This pic is from Versailles,

and this one was to celebrate our new addition ;)

And, there was even a stocking for me and Mike, that Mom made.

Family photos were taken.

..well, some were only attempted.

We also had a huge family gathering at my Grandma's house.

(complete with presents for the littles)
I think he was happy.

The youngest little needed help opening his truck.
I tried.

but I failed.

BUT! Again, Mike saves the day.

success.

You see, I am the youngest of the middles.
My mom & siblings & spouses are the bigs.
Their children, are the middles.
And their grandchildren, are the littles.
I do not have a little.
And mom jokingly told me that the littles would only listen to an adult.
ahem. I am 26. I am an adult.

I gave her proper amounts of crap for that..

Check back tomorrow for a glimpse into the present opening.
I promise it's fun.

Weekend Update

After Mike's first week back to work,
and my first week  looking for a job,
it was nice to have a -normal- weekend again.

Friday

The cats feasted on newly found food,

while I made cookies,

and then Mike and I watched 61*.

It's actually a really good movie. I knew hardly anything about Mantle & Marris,
or the Babe's record, or really baseball, but I liked this movie and
I definitely think it made me a bigger baseball fan.

Saturday:

Mike and I used our outdoor fruit supply,
along with the Juicer from my mama,
and made AWESOME OJ.

Then Mike took Shiva for a run,
which took her a while to recover from.

Then we headed downtown to Original Gravity Public House,

for gourmet grilled cheeses & awesome beers.

Mike and I then spent the night playing Mario Party.
I beat him.
TWICE.

Sunday:

Mike made breakfast burritos,
to go with our fresh juice,

and then we all hung out and watched
former NC STATE qb Russell Wilson
beat the Redskins.

All in all, another successful weekend!
Whose ready to start back tomorrow?
Not me, that's for sure.

Friday & NYE

This year, Mike and I had a SUPER fancy NYE.

High Rollers!

I wore my finest,
(which happens to tie into my resolution to turn off my phone and relax more)

2013

2013 by teeller featuring cotton shirts

I painted my nails
Julep Isla & Vivien

then we got the fun started.

Starter his and hers drinks were made,

and Panda Express was our fancy dinner.

We decided these were our 2013 fortunes,
and were pretty content when we opened them.

We had homemade cookies & then ice cream sammiches for desert,

 while we played Mario Party,

then we cracked open the champagne!

We ate our Save Me, San Francisco chocolate

and donned our glasses.

BUT,
Lemme tell you, the ball drop isnt that exciting when it's
pre-recorded,
and you got "HAPPY NEW YEAR" texts at 9pm.

It was a good NYE, however,
and especially welcomed after our weeks of busybusybusy!
I think it would be really nice to remember to turn off my phone,
and enjoy my company, and some wine & takeout on the couch, this weekend.

Welcome to 2013, y'all.

Well, 2013 has come,
and as is customary,

Nothing too crazy,
with my 26 in 26 already underway,

This year I will:

(1) Drink more water
(2) Meditate & get back into yoga
(3) Get a Job!
(4) Get all the Harry Potter Ultimate Edition DVDs
(5) Laugh, not sweat, the small stuff.
(6) Slow dance with Mike in the living room more
(7) Teach Shiva 6 more tricks. (can greyhounds learn tricks?)
(8) Remember to wash my face more often!
(9) Send more handwritten mail.
(10) Craft often.
(11) Make the blender & juicer & crockpot have a reason for existing
(12) Print last years 365 project, and keep going this year
(13) Enjoy the heck out of the year of us.

Cheers y'all!
