First Date-aversary

Today, March 22nd, is the 2 year anniversary of my first date with Mike.

We met at Flying Saucer for trivia but, we were both late because we were still sitting in the car listening to a story about South Park on NPR.
So, every year we celebrate both the date and the trivia.

Just Landed - the newest beers.

decisions, decisions
We had a few beers, some dinner and settled into the trivia round.
Don't we look happy.

3-20-12

and guess what..

WE WON!

horray!!!!! $50 for next week? Don't mind if we do.
We've never placed during trivia, by ourselves or in a group.
So, it was pretty special to win this time.

So, I celebrated with a pretty Black Velvet before calling it a night. :)

2 years is pretty amazing, and I can't wait to see what this year will bring.

Mama said.. I should have been warned to stock the bar before hand.

Mama said there'd be days like this.

I woke up in a cold sweat, having nightmares about Mike running away on vacation without me with someone-not-me. I left the house EARLY, but got stuck behind a a city truck who blew a tire on Six Forks. THEN, on 440, Mr. I-Cant-Figure-Out-What-Exit-I-Want cuts me off to get on the beltline before he smashes into the sign. I slam on my breaks, and barely miss him, causing my purse and lunch to squash into the front of my car. Spare change? EVERYWHERE. Purse contents: EVERYWHERE. My left over Chinese food lunch - ALL OVER MY DASHBOARD. Sigh. I get to the lab, lean on the door (which is never fully shut) and basically crush my bones against the door because its magically locked (No one ever fessed up to this, by the way). Bruises up my arm and legs. Pour out solutions for my experiment, just to drop them on my jeans and bleach the bottom. I drop my last sterile pipette. I had to explain 6496 things, that shouldnt have had to be explained. Leave late because someone else "has to leave before me." Drive home and pull out the herby cheese and take a big bite: oh, that would be mold..in my mouth. I open the fridge to see what ELSE is moldy, and fling the container of feta cheese over the floor. Clean that up, and a box of cereal falls off the top of the fridge and hits me in the head.

So. Now.
I am sitting in the basement, eating pepperoni and sliced cheese; checking out the longest bridal train ever (1.85 MILES) and reading about Reese Witherspoon being preggers (oh my gosh, can I be her?) and whether Sanchez or Tebow is the hotter Jets quarterback. Don't blame me, blame People.

I assume that later I will boil over the pot and burn my hand and then probably burn the house down while I kill all the endangered species in the rainforest. :-P

Or, I'll drink some wine and be great. But, thanks lil blog, for letting vent out my day. For getting this far, here's a picture of the double rainbow that I saw on my way to work yesterday.

Technical Difficulties

via Exploding Dog

The best laid plans of mice and bloggers,
often end in tears and frustrations.

Monday night, I got a great idea to update my commenting software.
Tuesday night, I noticed that while I would get emails of comments
they weren't on the blog.
I started looking at other posts that I knew had comments,
and suddenly, they were all missing.

I cried.

So, I deleted the new software.
It seems that it took a few casualties.
I apologize, immensely.

I've only "removed" one comments from my blog.
It promised me larger member if I clicked the link,
but that's it.
And it always will be.

I LOVE your comments on my blog.
I get really excited  for each new follow.

 So, from here on out
I will leave the changes and updates to the pros.

Oh Pinterest. A Poem

Oh Pinterest,
Why must you lure me?

When I know that your NC art projects are sure to please

Perhaps I shall drool, over kitty cat towers,...

or new ways to hang up flowers.

Or, I can pick out a necklace or two,

and convince myself that this Pin isn't true...

will make me link with "The Vintage Apple," cause she knows.

WHAT!
 It had to rhyme.
 I never said I was a poet.
and don't know it
 I'm an immunologist.
I promise to never try this again...

What did you find on Pinterest this week?

Wha?

Did you know?
That I did things these last few weeks?
All I know, is that I was S.I.C.K.
and suddenly, photos of happenings appeared on my phone.
See?

One Thursday, Mike & I went with our friends to Total Wine in North Hills.
Yeah, Total Wine.
They have wine classes, and at these classes they let you try 10 different types of wines, in multiple price points all from different regions (Generally, each night has a theme, and they do it once a month)

This particular month was California.
We learned about a movie "Bottle Shock" that is apparently a must-see, and tried a variety of new wines. Mike and I really want to head up Cali wine country to sample all the different vinyards.
"On the list!" he says, so I will assume that it'll happen...eventually..
The class is also taught by an NCSU History professor, so its REALLY interesting..
This is the photo that best sums up the night.
Lots of color & wine.

Apparently,
we also went to another Cirque Du Soleil show.
"Michael Jackson"
From what I remember, it was really cool.
"Love" is still my favorite, but this is definitely worth seeing, if you love the prince of Pop.

the stage

my glasses  &  Mike's dinner...

We also started watching Oi and Olive as they run around the house.
They both get really upset when Mike is in his office and will not come out to play.
I guess the MBA is affecting the whole house..

Spring has sprung! Actually, it sprung last week and this week it's just
raining and storming us to death.

We also went out to Sushi..
(oh come on, are you shocked?
This happens 23 times a week,
 minimum)

sooooooo goooooooooooood
I also have, apparently, spent a great deal of time playing
"Draw Something"
with Mike.
I think it's safe to say that even though neither of us are budding artists,
we must "get" each other..
or else, we'd never understand what the other was trying to draw...
do YOU see shovel?

What have *YOU* been up to the last couple days?

Mani Monday

On Saturday, I go to do something that I had really been wishing for.

I bought new nail polish (step 1)
and gave myself a new mani-pedi (step 2)

I picked up this gorgeous red/coral because of how it popped against the green I wore for St. Paddy's day, and I now wonder if Essie has changed their formula because this polish has stayed chip free for 4 days, without a top coat (I ran out of time) and went on super smooth.

Ole Caliente!

Love iit.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

I'm so sorry, all of you lovely readers, for my little vacay from the blog. There's been some personal happenings going on, that took up most of my energy and time. BUT, it's Saint Patrick's Day. My heritage day, if you will, so it's a great day to pick up, move on, and cheer up. I've got a post of all the cute things I've found when I haven't been blogging this week. (Seriously, a picnic basket and a gorgeous pair of earrings) but for now,

I'll leave you with this.
