The One Year Anniversary..ish

On March 22nd 2010, I met this pretty cool guy at Flying Saucer for a drink. I had no idea where we'd be a year later. I couldn't be happier.

I am the luckiest

The Kitchen table

From the 101 Things list:

I have bought myself fresh flowers! They're beautifully colorful and match the print Mike has in his kitchen. :)

I also went and got my eyes checked out, and got some new glasses that make me look all smart and fancy.

Raleigh St. Patrick's Day Parade!

On an absolutely lovely Saturday afternoon, Raleigh had an annual St. Patricks Day parade, and Mike and I ventured out to see it. There were TONS of people lining the streets all around the parade route, which  was really cool, and there was a great atmosphere and mixture of adults, families and students.

Mike and I found comfy spot on a streetcorner, right around some lovely families. I instantly fell into adore with the three little ones below. I absolutely loved two that were scrambling for candy and dancing along with the bands, and the little girl with her glorious tiara and hot pink earguards .

There was quite parade of classic cars, which made me think of my dad. So, here ya go daddy :) (click on the pic to make it bigger)

They only thing that was more represented than old cars, was awesome puppies. There were tons of Irish wolfhounds (I want one..) and even some greyhounds in costumes.

I even reminisced a little bit about my days in Marching Band and all the hours and days and trips spent marching here, and in Charlotte, and in NOLA, etc. It was kinda entertaining.

Remember the cute dancing boy? Yup, here ya go. :)

And, no NC parade would be complete without a tractor.

There were drum corps complete with kilts and NCSU drums :)

And of course, all the local mascots made an appearance: The Durham Bulls (and if you look closely at one of the classic cars the Carolina Mudcat is inside)

We really had an excellent time. I didnt realize how much I had missed, and would enjoy, a local parade, but I'm super glad we spent a glorious day outside in our pretty awesome city. :)

Mike's Return!

Welp, the man has returned from his South Dakota trip. I have an obsession with shot glasses. I love getting them when friends (or myself) travel to places. Mike, being awesome, picked me up one from each airport he went to. So, I present you with Michigan, Minnesota, and South Dakota.
Here's a little closeup on the Minnesota one, which is ADORABLE. I love the moose and the bear.

Thursday night I decided to make Mike some of his favorites to celebrate his return, and preemptively his acceptance into the MBA program at NCSU. (Seriously, I couldn't be more proud) So, I made a Cesar salad , which tasted just as good as it looks, that we quickly ate out of the giant mixing bowl...
....while the lasagna cooked in the oven. The flash attacked this picture and made it less awesome. But, the lasagna was layers and layers of beefy sauce, cheese and noodles..and it was delicious.
Based on my mom's recommendation (and really, never argue with your mother....especially about food), I picked up these lil individual pies for dessert.
Mike tried really really hard to wait so I could get a picture before he scarfed the rest of them down. Seriously, delicious.

Cause everyone needs a new haircut.

I can't remember the last time I had a really GOOD haircut. Well, it was time, and I'm fairly certain it healed a bit of my soul as well. They give you wine when you walk in the door, there are massage chairs to sit on while you get your hair washed, and the haircutting process takes about an hour, but its very relaxing. It looked SO nice when I was done, and it was superduper soft. I picked Mike up from the airport and he met me with "Wow, you look beautiful."
Yup, totally worth it.

It looked pretty awesome on the second day as well. :)
(it was really early, i hadnt had coffee or my morning date with a makeup brush yet..)
