Boston

My heart aches,
much like everyone elses,
for Boston and all of the people involved.

But, like I try to do every time something horrible happens,
I looked for the good. You always see the good.

March

It's MARCH y'all.

Source: designmedailyblog.com via Terri on Pinterest

March has a lot happening.
I start work on Monday.
I'm flying to Raleigh for a day, then flying back with my parents.
Then Mike's parents are coming in. (The In-Laws meet!)
It's our 3 year dateaversary,
and our wedding -1aversary.
(Fun fact. Our parents will get to see our venue, together,
1 year before our wedding date..
and also on our 3 year anniversary. SO cool)

It's gonna be a big month.
I promise to be around more.
I was just so stressed about the job,
(I really wanted it)
that I got a little lowenergy and freaked myself out.

Maybe you'll even get to see the Europe pics this month..
oooOOOOOooooo ;)

Be Brave.

It's a blogging trend lately to do a "if you really know me" post.

I can't really think of anything that scandalous..
I love love potatoes,
painting makes me happy,
and I'm ridiculously over critical of myself,
however, it did make me think about actually being open.

Everyone has a tendency to put their best face forward,
to compare their behind-the-scenes to everyone else's highlight reel.
(..yeah, I totally stole that from Pinterest.)

So, guys.
I'm struggling here.

I leave Raleigh, NC in 39 days.
THIRTY-NINE

The house is no where NEAR packed, much less cleaned.
Although I've contacted movers, none have gotten back in touch with me
ditto on the cleaners - both carpet and house.
 So, I worry.

I'm running out of space to put the boxes I have packed,
and still don't know what I'm going to do with the furniture.
So, I worry.

I'm nervous about making the new place a home, not just another rental.
We need new furniture for a couple rooms,
and while only spending $1000 is better than $10,000  it's still money.
Money that I then worry about because -I don't have a job yet.-
Both Mike and I decided that we wanted to get everything unpacked
and in place before I start looking for a job,
and let's be honest, do I really have time to fly across country for a interview?
No, No I don't. I know it's only temporary,
but it's rough temporary.
 So, I worry.

Shiva's not getting better.
They said it could take two months to get rid of the mites,
and even two more months to get her hair to grow back.
They also said it wasn't my fault. That doesn't help, though.
She had a rash on her stomach when I picked her up from the boarders this week.
Rash that will probably mean more antibiotics.
More antibiotics mean more vet visits.
Poor little girl has hardly any hair on her face.
So, I worry.
poor hairless face.
We leave for Europe in a week.
I'm OCD when I travel.
I like reservations, plans, organization. I have hardly any.
We dont have train tickets, underground tickets, attraction tickets, or dinner reservations.
We don't really even know what we're doing.
Canal tour in Amsterdam?
Jack the Ripper tour in London?
Romantic dinner cruise in Paris?
Versailles? Anne Frank House? The Louvre? London Eye? - all need advanced tickets.
That I haven't purchased yet.
So, I worry.

Did I mention that I'm going to Charleston this weekend?
And going home the weekend I'm back in town from Europe.
My friend is also due that day, so while I hope baby comes after Europe,
I need him to come before I leave to go home.
I'm also heading to Charlotte, to see a dear friend.
This one, plus his lady friends.

I could cancel these things.
But, I dont WANT to.
I've been in this town, with these people, for 26 years.
It hurts to rip out these roots and replant them somewhere far -FAR- away.
A land without sweet tea, bojangles or mom.
Y'all - I talk to my mom &/or dad at least twice a day.
Not kidding. As I walk in and out of work.
Just - chat -
YES I KNOW I CAN STILL DO THAT and that there's skype,
but leaving work at 5pm in San Jose means calling Mom at 8pm.
Which is fine, unless shes working 12 hour days,
4am is early. 8pm is late. You do the math.
Yes, I'm 26 years old and I want my mommy.

I'm not even going to mention that I'm
training someone new at work on software that I took 2 years to learn,
(and i have 1 day to teach)
or that the cats and Shiva are suddenly at odds,
or that I haven't bought my bridesmaids dress yet, (SORRY APRIL, I WILL FRIDAY!)
or that it isn't easy to maintain a relationship via Skype,
or that I worry if we'll still have friends in NC or make friends in CA,
or...

I'm not here to whine or beg for pity.
Just to say, it's hard.
I decided, however, that THIS will be bought
for over my desk in Cali.
Because, it's what I have.
via

It will be ok. I know it will. Things will fall into place.
Mike and I are happy and love each other.
We have an amazing family unit on both sides that surrounds us
with love and prayers and positive energy- and good food..
We have friends that we love, animals that love us, and a great future around us.
But, sometimes it's hard.
So, I worry.

(I promise a full post of cute animal pictures tomorrow so that everyone laughs)

Friday Hodgepodge

Hello Hello Hello!
It's FRIDAY!!!!! (just say it like Oprah.)

I think..that today,
I'm going to be a bit more organized in my hodgepodge.
Does that defeat the purpose..yes.
Iyunno, Iduncare.

Let's start with   Friday Letters

Dear Friday: Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you. Dear G105: I don't know if you knew how much I needed to relax a bit, but being the random 15 caller for a radio station that I never listen to that I happened to have on and then decided to call (though I never do) and then win a 1 hour massage...Thank You. Dear God: See Above. Dear Shiva: I apologize ahead of time for taking you to work and kennelling you all day. I promise that it's worth it, though it makes you hate me. Dear Mike: Life is crazy and ever changing right now, and I know that it's really hard on both of us..and "us" day to day, but it's worth it. You're worth it. We're worth it. Love you. Dear Mom & Dad: I'll see y'all in less that 12 hours. HORRAY FOR MOM'S COOKING! I hope this is as relaxing as I need it to be.

Moving on to Manicure chitchat.

From my August Julep Maven box (post forthcoming) Dakota, topped with Sephora's Only Gold for Me.  I really liked this mixture actually, it was a nice blend of rose gold and gold that made it subtle yet eyecatching. And of course, what nail post would I have if I didn't compare it to a beverage. (Or two, from the Beer, Bourbon, BBQ fest)

On to Friday Favorites!!

Favorite Giveaway:
Molly, on top of being super sweet, stylish, funny, debt-free and all around fantastic is giving away BOOTS. Y'all. It's BOOTS. Get thee to her blog.
Now.

Favorite Shiva Destroyed Thing:
She finally has learned that it's "fun" to take apart her toys.
Pulling out all the stuffing is a BLAST.

Favorite Break:
Wine + BrownieCookie with a closed computer.
I definitely need to remember to turn off the computer,
and turn on my life again.

Favorite Purchase:
NEW TERVIS COFFEE MUG.
Seen here over the CVM where I work :)

And finally, a plea.

FIND THIS NECKLACE.
It USED to be on BaubleBar.
It. Is. Not. Now.

I emailed them.
But, I am not patient.
Please find it!

Friday Letters

Dear People: Confession-yeah, I struggle with the whole insecurity thing a lot. I have flashes of confidence, but they're hard to come by. There's always someone smaller, prettier, smarter, wittier, yaddayadda. Dear Blog: I'll be back soon. I was soaking in the last few days of Mike's "summer" before he starts back to school and disappears for hours on end (which is my normal blogging time) Dear Mike: I still need those China posts. Obvi Dear Lady A: Please be awesome tonight and not randomly pitchy. I love you. Make me love you. Dear Melie Bianco: Thanks for making a "Terri" bag that is just as amazing and wonderful as me ;)  Dear London: PLEASE dont throw away all the jubilee love and tacky souvenirs. I will be there in 4 months and I need some. Desperately. Dear Queen E and Duchess K: Both of you - A++ Dear Mike: We, as a team, are awesome. Let's stay awesome for a while. Gotta round the two year mark ya know <3

Let's peace out for the weekend with one awesome picture from Buckingham Palace during the Jubilee.

Technical Difficulties

via Exploding Dog

The best laid plans of mice and bloggers,
often end in tears and frustrations.

Monday night, I got a great idea to update my commenting software.
Tuesday night, I noticed that while I would get emails of comments
they weren't on the blog.
I started looking at other posts that I knew had comments,
and suddenly, they were all missing.

I cried.

So, I deleted the new software.
It seems that it took a few casualties.
I apologize, immensely.

I've only "removed" one comments from my blog.
It promised me larger member if I clicked the link,
but that's it.
And it always will be.

I LOVE your comments on my blog.
I get really excited  for each new follow.

 So, from here on out
I will leave the changes and updates to the pros.
