Raleigh Beer Week (And G'bye Flying Saucer!)

If there was ever a bar that was near to my heart,
3-22-10, I met a guy there for the first time.
"Super Casual, for a beer and some trivia"
That night I had the best first date of my life,
followed by the only first kiss that I still remember.
Fast forward 2.5 years, and those two kids are heading to San Jose.

Anyway, Wednesday's  are "Keep the Glass" nights.
Some are cool, some are generic,
but when there are major events, say
RALEIGH BEER WEEK,
There's always a specialty glass that Mike and I clamor for.

This one seemed more bittersweet.
It's a great glass with Raleigh, NC
and "America's Smartest Beer Drinking City"
on the side.

I know we can come back whenever.
(Mike does have 15 more beers before he hits 200 and gets his plate)
There's also direct flights from SFO to RDU,
 but for some reason.
Last night seemed like a nice goodbye to the place that brought us together.

Weekend Update

Quick Note: Don't forget to enter my JULEP GIVEAWAY, over here.

FRIDAY:

We packed our bags, said goodbye to this girl,

and caught our flight up to Long Island for the weekend.
Mike's Mom and Dad picked us up at the airport,
and took us to the BEST Italian food I've ever eaten.
(It's in Astoria, go there now.)

Saturday
We headed back into the city to catch the Mets game.

Dickey pitched, Mets Won, Piazza Bobble heads were collected, Life was good.

Then came -THE HUNT-

Mike and his dad have a brick. Where, is the question.

Found It!
Booyah!

Then we went across to McFadden's for beer
(and dancing)
The Right Stuff.
Then came Mexican food

and local bands.

Sunday

Mike's Mom and I went for pedicures,

then all four of us went back to the city to see the Enterprise.
(More on that later)

Finally, we went to a couple of friends' house for Mike's fantasy draft.
Also, to watch Cam & the Panthers beat the Jets.

MONDAY
Bright and early this morning we headed out east on LI.

Stopped at a diner

then meandered over to Martha Clara vineyards for some Monday boozing.

On our way back,
after a quick stop at All-American Hamburger,

we found out our flight got cancelled.
So, we turned on the XM radio,
rapped along to California Love

and headed back.
Now, we wait for our new flight (hopefully).
What'd you do this weekend?

Friday Favorites (and a letter or two)

I really don't know where to start this post.

The overwhelming support from both IRL friends, blog friends and Facebook friends about our little announcement Wednesday has been fantastic. I so greatly appreciate it. Monday/Tuesday I was feeling very dark and low about the entire move and quite lonely, but it's the little high-fives that make this process SO much easier.

Cheers to you, from NC to CA!

I'm currently hosting my first giveaway here, sponsored by Julep, and I happen to have heard that the winner might get a little extra somethin' somethin' from yours truly. Sooo, check it out, and enter.

Favorite Activity around Raleigh
Definitely Cow Spotting.
It's ridiculous, but so cool!
I love that this little art installation is here during my last weeks.

Favorite Perk of Moving Away.

Being perfectly allowed to make plans with someone every night.

Favorite New Productive Place
a Pint + a full set of list making and sketch drawing.
Holy productive hour Batman!

Favorite Way to Day Dream
I'm obsessed with planning things. I love lists, plans, schedules and a concrete idea of all the little elements of life. That includes outfits, music, books, and what I might do in a random hotel in Tulsa.
This week's Friday Fancies was "road trip" -fitting, eh?-
and I'm definitely pouring over these posts to get inspiration for the road trip, and our Euro Trip

road trip

Favorite Nighttime Ritual
Cocoa Puffs + Milk.
Need I say more?

I promise to get a bit more time this weekend (ish) to get this blog back to where it was before this whole moving thing. 74 73 days and counting and I fully plan on sharing every little second with you, plus, we have a lot to catch up on. Have a great weekend loves. (and go score yourself some nail polish!)

An Ode to Julep (Nail Polish Giveaway!)

Julep, sweet Julep, you make my heart flutter.

It's no secret that I'm in love with nail polish. So when I was offered the chance to review an Intro Julep maven box and then GIVE ONE AWAY to one of you, I took the chance. Hands Down.

When you get that sexy little black box in the mail and open it up, pink tissue paper will spill out and show you all your goodies for the month. I chose the American Beauty Box (this time!)

There's also a card that gives you details about the colors and how to style them.

Inside the box:
* Renee: a spring lilac creme, which was such a soft, pastel purple,  that it's perfect for spring and summer.
* Emma: a feminine seashell pink shimmer. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little unsure about shimmer's and anything that's not opaque. BUT, I really love this color. It's hardly noticeable in direct/fluorescent light, so it stays professional, but in the sun or if I move my fingers around the pink is GORGEOUS.
* Best Pedi Creme Ever: They aren't lying. It's actually beyond superior to any other pedi cream I've tried.

Here's the low down :

* Click here and take your Maven quiz to see which profile you fit. Don't worry, if you don't like it, you can change which intro box you get.

* Use the code MAVENINTRO to get your first box for $0.01. I'm not kidding, it's really sweet.

Then you're a Maven:

* For 19.99/month, you get either 2 or 3 nail polishes plus a bonus product. You might even get lucky and receive a GOLD box which has EVERY product that month.

* You also get to PREVIEW all the different options on the 24th and choose which one you want, or if none of the colors are really for you that month, just skip it. Easy Peasy, and they don't charge you anything.

* They also offer free bonus perks throughout your membership (like after your first month) and a really fun blog that gives you tons of nail ideas.

I, honestly, really like the formulation of these polishes. They go on really smoothly, dry quickly and cover really well without 1billion coats. Feel free to ask me any questions or throw comments my way, and DEFINITELY enter into the giveaway. There's no negatives, right?

Big News

I'm sorry for the radio silence the last few days.
My stomach's been in absolute knots.
Why?

Mike and I are moving
to San Jose/San Fran.
(The Bay Area)
(depending on where we find a house)
3,000miles.

Mike's moving in September,
I'll follow along (with Olive, Oi and Shiva) in November.

Remember when I posted this?

That's become a mantra.
I suppose, I now have permission to buy everything from here.

It's scary.
It's exciting.
It's...gonna be a really cool adventure.
I'm glad to finally clue y'all in.

Weekend Update

Another weekend rushed by.
Seriously, I have no idea how.
Zilch.

FRIDAY

We went to Vincent's down the street for a little nosh.
Mussels, bruschetta, and crab stuffed mushrooms.
Yes.

Then down the street to hang out with some favorites.
 and play a little poker,
and drive in the rain,
in a convertible.

SATURDAY

A day for relaxing and making lists.
Seriously, the highlight was a bowl of cocoa puffs.

but it was a REALLY GOOD BOWL OF COCOA PUFFS.

SUNDAY

Of course, we started the day of at Flying Saucer for brunch.

Then, we headed to the bookstore for travel guides.

A quick stop by Wal-Mart to get the new Hunger Games DVD,

and then back for mexican food

and FINALLY, we made it to see the Dark Knight Rises.
It was really good. Go see it if you haven't.
Go see it again if you have.

Oh, and Bonus: We saw a cow parade.
I have no real idea what that is, but it's cool,
and Mike and I have a new goal to locate them all.

Any big plans this week for anyone?
Anything amazing happen this weekend?

Linking up with these fabulous creatures. <3
