4:42 AM

Dropping off someone at the airport at 4am, means being WIDE.AWAKE 4:42.
I'm arguing with my body
that it is NOT breakfast time,
it does NOT get coffee,
and we are NOT going to work now.

We are, in fact, lying in bed reading blogs.
And watching QVC.
I lurve QVC, y'all.
Maybe on my 26 in 26 will be to BUY something from QVC..
 I'll run that by Leslie.

Lessee, what's a blog post without pictures..soo,
here's a cool thing I found at target.

I might have to get those..

Stolen

I stole this from a friend, but I absolutely loved it.

"Instead of looking for proof of God's handiwork in magic tricks, find it in the moment. Instead of looking for miracles from above, find them within. Every time there's a tragedy or a problem bigger than any solution we can see, we tend to ask, "Where is God?" Imagine what would happen if we stepped up to the plate, each of us, and said, "Here is God. Right here in me; right here in you." God is in each of us, in the midst of every tragedy and problem. It's up to us to call forth our greatest light and love and be the miracle, right here, right now."

Fancy Dress?

fancy dress

This coming Saturday, we have a more formal occasion to attend. I had to run out late last night to pick up a new dress for it, so I'm hoping it all goes well. Seems like the weather is going to work out, so hopefully I wont get freezing cold and hopefully my hair wont fuzz up.

But, what do you think..hair up? hair down? curly? straight?

Weekend Wrap Ups..St Patty's Day

Yeah, I just..I..I'm sorry. Better late than never.

First Up:

Friday, March 16th.

Mike and I got up early that morning, and I got out all of our NCSU tshirts to wear for the day.

Then we went to work til noon and then met up with two of our friends at Backyard Bistro.
For the NCSU game in the NCAA tourney.

and some dividing up of craft supplies..

After we won, Mike and I went home for a quick nap, then headed out for some sushi.

Saturday, March 17th

While Mike had his MBA meeting, I watched the penguin cam in bed for a couple hours.

then we got dressed up in our green, finest clothes (and apparently did a lil jig)

then headed out to meet our friend Katie for her birthday.

We went down to Dos Taquitos in downtown Raleigh, then headed to the architect for dancing.

dancing and mean mugging..of course..

We then met up with some of our friends at a hotel bar in North hills for a hot second, before running home to avoid the torrential downpours outside.

Sunday, March 18th
We got up early and headed to Brewmasters for Brunch.

We grabbed a couple bloody marys and some food.

and settled into watch NCSU beat Georgetown. (It was a remarkable win)

The bartender celebrated with us, by making us a miniature Dirty Hippy.

Moral: Always make friends.
Especially with bartenders.

Then we headed to our neighborhood Whole Foods, where they were having a Chili Cookoff.

We took our job seriously,

then picked up some local wine and cheese for dinner.

Horray for awesome weekends.

Mama said.. I should have been warned to stock the bar before hand.

Mama said there'd be days like this.

I woke up in a cold sweat, having nightmares about Mike running away on vacation without me with someone-not-me. I left the house EARLY, but got stuck behind a a city truck who blew a tire on Six Forks. THEN, on 440, Mr. I-Cant-Figure-Out-What-Exit-I-Want cuts me off to get on the beltline before he smashes into the sign. I slam on my breaks, and barely miss him, causing my purse and lunch to squash into the front of my car. Spare change? EVERYWHERE. Purse contents: EVERYWHERE. My left over Chinese food lunch - ALL OVER MY DASHBOARD. Sigh. I get to the lab, lean on the door (which is never fully shut) and basically crush my bones against the door because its magically locked (No one ever fessed up to this, by the way). Bruises up my arm and legs. Pour out solutions for my experiment, just to drop them on my jeans and bleach the bottom. I drop my last sterile pipette. I had to explain 6496 things, that shouldnt have had to be explained. Leave late because someone else "has to leave before me." Drive home and pull out the herby cheese and take a big bite: oh, that would be mold..in my mouth. I open the fridge to see what ELSE is moldy, and fling the container of feta cheese over the floor. Clean that up, and a box of cereal falls off the top of the fridge and hits me in the head.

So. Now.
I am sitting in the basement, eating pepperoni and sliced cheese; checking out the longest bridal train ever (1.85 MILES) and reading about Reese Witherspoon being preggers (oh my gosh, can I be her?) and whether Sanchez or Tebow is the hotter Jets quarterback. Don't blame me, blame People.

I assume that later I will boil over the pot and burn my hand and then probably burn the house down while I kill all the endangered species in the rainforest. :-P

Or, I'll drink some wine and be great. But, thanks lil blog, for letting vent out my day. For getting this far, here's a picture of the double rainbow that I saw on my way to work yesterday.

awe.

Wha?

Did you know?
That I did things these last few weeks?
All I know, is that I was S.I.C.K.
and suddenly, photos of happenings appeared on my phone.
See?

One Thursday, Mike & I went with our friends to Total Wine in North Hills.
Yeah, Total Wine.
They have wine classes, and at these classes they let you try 10 different types of wines, in multiple price points all from different regions (Generally, each night has a theme, and they do it once a month)

This particular month was California.
We learned about a movie "Bottle Shock" that is apparently a must-see, and tried a variety of new wines. Mike and I really want to head up Cali wine country to sample all the different vinyards.
"On the list!" he says, so I will assume that it'll happen...eventually..
The class is also taught by an NCSU History professor, so its REALLY interesting..
This is the photo that best sums up the night.
Lots of color & wine.

Apparently,
we also went to another Cirque Du Soleil show.
"Michael Jackson"
From what I remember, it was really cool.
"Love" is still my favorite, but this is definitely worth seeing, if you love the prince of Pop.

the stage

my glasses  &  Mike's dinner...

We also started watching Oi and Olive as they run around the house.
They both get really upset when Mike is in his office and will not come out to play.
I guess the MBA is affecting the whole house..

Spring has sprung! Actually, it sprung last week and this week it's just
raining and storming us to death.

We also went out to Sushi..
(oh come on, are you shocked?
This happens 23 times a week,
 minimum)

sooooooo goooooooooooood
I also have, apparently, spent a great deal of time playing
"Draw Something"
with Mike.
I think it's safe to say that even though neither of us are budding artists,
we must "get" each other..
or else, we'd never understand what the other was trying to draw...
do YOU see shovel?

What have *YOU* been up to the last couple days?

What a week.

Oy.
Let me start at the beginning. I've been having CRAZY backpain for a couple months now, and it'd started to affect my moods, sleeping, walking, sitting, and even my breathing.
When I couldnt take a deep breath, I decided to see a Chiropractor.
And now I'm on a regimen of 2X week for another 5 weeks, at $64 a visit.
THAAAAAAAAAAAANKS insurance. (cue eye roll)

Add that to some not-so-nice news from Mike's end, and a oddly insane week at work,
and I'm pooped.
Luckily, this week also brought a couple welcome distractions.
First off? Cupcakes.

Y'all need to get some of these. I got the thin mint inspired one,and Mike got the strawberry cupcake.
There are no words.
They're just that good.

Then! I got a nice package in the mail. My Hunger Games nailpolishes arrived! I only ordered Foie Gras, Smoke and Ashes, and Luxe and Lush, and I"m VERY excited.
I immediately put Foie Gras on.
It's a smokey, taupey, purpley mashup of awesome.

And now, it is Friday.
BRING ON THE WEEKEND!
(and the Michael Jackson Cirque du Soleil)

Cheers to the Weekend

What.
A.
Weekend.

Last week was seriously one of the worst I've had in a LONG time. I'm sorry for abandoning the blog, but I took all I could do was scrape food together before passing out.

Friday afternoon however, I got the weekend started right, with some nailpolish window shopping. I'm on a "don't paint my nails" kick until they stop peeling. (Ok, I totally JUST painted them, but it's coming off)

luxe effects anyone? I think I need them.

I have no idea why they won't stop peeling, but that's a blog for another day. I gotta get them in shape for the Spring 2012 collection however. That moss green, the hot pink and the coral are to.die.for.
<3
After Mike got home, we called our friends Leslie and Derek and headed to Tasu for dinner. We had a vvvvvvvvvery interesting waiter, but also had a great time chatting and catching up.

um, the ones with Jalepenos are amazing...

Saturday morning, while Mike worked on his MBA, I went and did a little shopping to get myself ready for spring. A new pair of jeans, some flowery tops, stripes, tanks, OH and the awesome cat tee from the Jason Wu collection at Target.

I've wanted this shirt since I saw it, (IT LOOKS JUST LIKE OI) and I've even had my mom searching for it. It sold out all around North Raleigh and online, but I found it hidden in between tons of other white shirts in the sleepwear section. My apologizes to whomever hid it..but, ya snooze & ya lose.

Afterwards, April and I headed to Wine and Design Cary for a new painting! I'll do a full post on this soon, cause it was super fun and we took TONS of photos, so it deserves it's own post.

Talent.

We met the boys afterwards for dinner and drinks at Brewmasters.

what? we like guacamole!

Sunday morning, bright and early(ish) we went into Durham for a bit. We stumbled across a random bike race on 9th street, which kept us entertained for a bit.

before hitting up Elmo's  (LOVE THAT PLACE) for a delish brunch with Mandy and Austin.
diet coke & mimosa: be still my beating heart.

cinnamon apple stuffed french toast. on sunflower bread...

On the walk back up 9th Street, we watched some more of the bike race (still going 2 hours later) before stumbling on Springtime Crack...ya know, Girl Scout Cookies.

I did NOT get one of each.
Then! Sunday night, we headed up to April and Jeremy's for some Oscars action. Billy Crystal was awesome, as always, and the cirque du Soleil part was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.  After Mike was done with his paper, be brought up some Bud Light Platinum, which APPARENTLY everyone (but me) had been wanting to try. It tasted just like Bud Light, so Im'a be stickin with some good beers. Just sayin..

Platinum?
Look at the cute table spread that April set up. Adorbs.

It was seriously a great great weekend.
What'd you get into?

Weekend Wrapup

Oy, this week has been a rough one, so I kinda neglected lil ol blog. I'm sorry. This weekend was filled with warm fuzzys as we spent the weekend celebrating Jeremy and April's engagement, with a small smidgen of "us" time, that Mike and I still try to fit in around work and school. It was a PERFECT weekend, so let's recap..

April, her mom, future MIL, Matt and I all went dress shopping..

ok fine, Edward met us there ;)
Mia and Alex met us there and we went out for celebratory drinks (and lunch)

Then it was time for the Engagement Party!
It was held at Tylers Taproom in Durham, where they had their first date. It was a really really cute event and you could tell just how happy they are together. So sweet.

Mike felt that my salad lunch was too healthy, so he added fried pickles and fries on top.

April's mom bought these GIANT engagement rings, that all the bridesmaids decided to wear as bracelets.

Of course there was cake!
The weather was BEYOND beautiful that day, so after the party we all headed outside to take a few photos. A professional photographer wandered by, and you can skip over to April's blog to see the big group shot. (And tons more pictures, teehee)

Love
We look like a sitcom or reality TV show cast..Love It.

sosweet.

After the party, we wanted to get dinner as a group, but SHOCKINGLY it's hard to get a table for 13 people 3 hours before you want to eat. (I know, I'm stunned as well) So Mike and I headed back to Sushi Nine.
Now I'm hungry again.

Then we headed for our friends Blake and Beth's new place..

gotta love homebrew

before we headed out downtown. It was dark, and so I didnt take any pictures..I'm sorry. BUT, the next morning, we joined April, Jeremy, and Jeremy's parents at Flying Biscuit. I hadnt been there in a while, but it's in Cameron Village and Mike and I decided we would definitely head back when the weather isnt cold and rainy to walk around.

sweet biscuits with cranberry Apple butter...

OH HEY MOM: RIGHT HERE! Question: I know y'all used to make Apple Butter. Can you teach me? Please? This stuff was TO DIE for.

Then, while it was all wintery and chilly outside, we cuddled up with Irish hot chocolate and watched Inception..

delish

Raleigh's only snowfall..
