Weekend Update

Little Miss Shiva had to go to the vet to get her shots.
(and figure out why she's having such a bad allergic reaction)
2 hours, 4 shots, and 3 weeks of antibiotics later,

But, she's a really good girl.

we packed up the car and headed up to my parent's house.
Where we had a toad-tastic welcoming committee.

A few hours spent chatting and we all went to sleep.
(It was almost 1am after all)

I woke up to my mama making biscuits.
of course I grabbed my camera

The rest of the day was spent,
doing absolutely nothing.
There's no internet at my parent's house.
My iPhone had no service.

Shiva had a blast running,

plopping through Mom's garden,

and chatting with my dad.

Mike and I had fun watching her.

We did catch the rhythmic gymnastics competition,

intense TV viewing

I spent some time doing this:

Shiva did more of this:

Mike did some more of this:

and it was good.

Until a family of wasps decided to wreak havoc upon us.
Dad got stung,
then it was my turn,
then, it was poor Shiva's turn.

After that, she wasn't having anymore of this "outdoors" stuff.
so the three of us spent did some more of this.

You know the best part (ok, one of em) about going home?
Comfort Food.
All your favorites on ONE PLATE.

(carb) heaven

Another night spent chatting and playing with the dog and more chatting and laughing.
I'm very blessed to have such a great relationship with my parents.

We were up bright and early to head out of town.

The one stop light in town. Yup, ALL OF TOWN.

The ride was pretty easy, especially with
someone passed out the whole time.

The mountains wore her out.

We got back home just in time to see the closing ceremonies
 on the London 2012 Olympics.
I loved the Lennon & Freddie Mercury tribute, but the best part?

Now it's time for Monday. (le sigh)

What'd you do this weekend?

  1. Jep, the Spice Girls Show was the greatest!! Loved that too!!!!!

  2. What a cute fur baby!!! And I love the name of your blog :)

  3. I was really bitter about how much I disliked the opening ceremonies, but alas...redemption with the Spice Girls. I felt like I was in high school again! No wonder the queen didn't attend the closing ceremonies.

Looks like such a nice, relaxing weekend. I'm going to my family's lake house this coming weekend and am so excited to get out of the city and just have some peace and quiet!

  4. Just swinging by to say hi from YOLO! I am now following you via GFC. You have a beautiful lab! Hope you have a great start to the week. I am celebrating reaching 200 GFC followers on the blog. Giving away some of my favorite things :) You can enter here:
    Talk to ya later!

  5. I think I'm just most amazed that your mom still makes biscuits from scratch (or atleast, that's what it looked like) - color me impressed!

Stop by and say hi sometime!

  6. Quality time with the parents is the best. And that food looks sooooo yummy!

  7. I did a whole lot of lsat... and threw in some laundry. you definitely win. I did however see the spice girls, which pretty much made the olympics.

  8. Yes...the Spice Girls were definitely the best part! And they inspired me to spend the day with my Pandora set to the Spice Girls station. 90's teeny bopper music heaven. :)

  9. Spice Girls!!! I loved the whole closing ceremony. I can't believe I missed ribbon dancing!

Stopping by from the linkup :)

  10. Looks like a great weekend & what better way to end it w the spice girls!! Loved their performance.

  11. I had to work all weekend Grrrr. But I now have a couple of days off - and they're forecasting rain and strong winds, typical!
That shot of the traffic lights looks so typically American to me and I think I spy a porch, we just don't have those over here.

  12. ah shiva! i wanna hug her neck. and i love toads!!!!! so cute :) thanks for linking up, terri!
